Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos Extends Greetings to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada

His Eminence Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Assistant Metropolitan of the Diocese of Canada of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, has conveyed his greetings to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada on the occasion of the retirement of His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios and the election of His Eminence Archbishop Apostolos as the new Archbishop of Canada.

In a letter addressed to His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios, Metropolitan Nicholovos expressed profound gratitude for the Archbishop's decades of dedicated episcopal ministry and faithful leadership of the Greek Orthodox faithful in Canada. He acknowledged Archbishop Sotirios' steadfast commitment to the Orthodox Christian witness, and his tireless pastoral service. Metropolitan Nicholovos offered his prayers that the Lord may grant Archbishop Sotirios abundant health, peace, and joy in his retirement.

Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos also extended warm congratulations to His Eminence Archbishop Apostolos upon his election as the new Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada. In his message, he assured the newly enthroned Archbishop of his prayers as he begins this sacred ministry, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, and many blessed years of service to the Church.

Reflecting on the longstanding friendship between the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Zachariah noted the deep bonds of mutual respect that have been nurtured through decades of theological dialogue, ecumenical engagement, and common witness to the apostolic faith. He expressed his hope that the close relationship between the Diocese of Canada of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada will continue to flourish under Archbishop Apostolos' leadership, fostering greater cooperation in proclaiming the Gospel and serving the people of Canada.
