18th Memorial of His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios Metropolitan

On Monday, February 23, 2026, the Diocese of Canada will observe the 18th memorial of His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios Metropolitan, in prayerful remembrance and gratitude.
The memorial observance will take place on Sunday, February 22, at the Catholicate Aramana in Devalokam, where our beloved Makarios Thirumeni was laid to rest. Holy Qurbana will be celebrated by our Assistant Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, in the presence of His Grace Abraham Mar Stephanos Metropolitan of the Diocese of UK, Europe & Africa. Prayers will also be offered at the tomb of Makarios Thirumeni.
The Diocese of Canada gratefully remembers Thirumeni’s vision, leadership, and tireless dedication, which helped establish and strengthen parishes throughout Canada.
With thanksgiving for his life and faithful ministry, we pray that his holy intercessions may continue to guide and protect our Diocese, our clergy, and all the faithful entrusted to our care.
May the memory of Makarios Thirumeni be eternal.
